Events canceled:City of Akron cancels Rib, White and Blue Festival amid concerns over protests

Here are some of the celebrations happening across the region:

Orrville: Parade at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Carnival midway with rides, games and food at Orr Park through Sunday. Fire in the Sky Fast Pitch Softball Tournament, girls 14 or younger, Friday-Sunday. Fireworks about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

Hudson: Fireworks Celebration, Barlow Farm Park, 1965 Barlow Road. The fireworks begin at dusk. There is no rain date this year. Parking is available at JoAnn Stores with shuttle service to Barlow Farm Park. Shuttle service begins at 7 p.m. There is no parking at Little Tikes this year. Handicapped parking/viewing is available at Wood Hollow Park.

Wadsworth: July First Friday with fireworks and food trucks, Downtown Wadsworth, 6-10:30 p.m. Fireworks at Dusk, around 10 p.m. There will also be more than 20 food trucks. Downtown streets will close at 5 p.m.

Kent: 27th Annual Heritage Festival, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., North Water and West Main streets, Classic car show, children's activities, live entertainment and music on two stages, Jaycees Ducks Down the River and food trucks. Fireworks at dark.

Brunswick: Fireworks, 9:30-10 p.m. Time listed is approximate. Fireworks will start at dark. Rain date is Tuesday, July 5.

Hiram: 4:30 p.m., HPD Bike Rodeo at the Hiram Christian Church parking lot. Fireworks on the football field about 9 p.m.

Massillon: City of Champions Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks, Duncan Plaza Amphitheater, 121 Lincoln Way E. The Li’l Miss Liberty and Li’l Uncle Sam Pageant will once again be held. Registration begins at 5 p.m. at the registration table located on City Hall Street. New Wave Nation performs 7:30-9:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Medina:  Fireworks display will be launched after dark at Medina High School parking lot.  Rain date is Tuesday, July 5.

Akron: Fireworks Monday downtown at Lock 3. Also, Patterson Park Sports Complex, 9:45 p.m. and Akron Executive Airport, 9:45 p.m. Downtown Lock 3 fireworks will begin at the end of the Rubber Ducks game. Tune to WONE (97.5 FM) for updates on start time and to listen to a patriotic soundtrack. Downtown parking is free beginning 6 p.m. Friday.

Alliance: Silver Park, 2930 S. Union Ave. Festival 5-9 p.m. free and open to the public, including food trucks and live music. Fireworks at dusk.

Aurora: July 4th Fun Run, parade, festival and fireworks. Bicentennial Park, 115 E. Pioneer Trail. Fun Run registration 7-7:50 a.m. at Bicentennial Gazebo, 1-mile at 8 a.m. at corner of Route 43/East Pioneer, 5K/Masters at 8:30 a.m. 11 a.m. parade will start at Barrington Town Square and make its way down state routes 306/43, ending at Aurora High School. Festival noon-3 p.m. at Kiwanis-Moore Park. Food trucks, music and entertainment. Fireworks at dusk at Pioneer Trail ballfields.

Canton: McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, 800 McKinley Drive NW. Fireworks go off at dusk. 

Fairlawn: Independence Day celebration and fireworks 5-10:30 p.m. Bicentennial Park, 3486 S. Smith Road. Doug Kaufman will play at 5:30 p.m. followed by Cleveland's Breakfast Club at 8 p.m. Fireworks at approximately 10 p.m. Food trucks will begin serving at 5 p.m. The Fairlawn Area Chamber of Commerce will sell the tokens needed to purchase beer and seltzer. The tokens are cash only and will cost $6 each or four for $20.

Fredericksburg: Parade lineup begins at North Hill at 9 a.m. Parade steps off at 11 a.m. Sports teams, bands, choirs, classic and sports cars, tractors, wagons and horse groups invited to participate.

Hudson: Fun on the 4th, First & Main Green, 42 Village Way. 9-11 a.m. Within the designated outdoor refreshment area, 4-mile road race/walk. To register:  www.westernreserveracing.com/races/four-on-the-4th

Medina: 4 p.m. parade route begins at Medina High School parking lot, heads south on Spring Grove, then west on Liberty Street and around the Square.

North Canton: Jaycees Annual July Fourth Parade, 10:30 a.m. It runs along Seventh Street Northeast to Main Street to Harmon School before ending at North Canton Middle School, 605 Fair Oaks Ave. SW. Community Celebration and Fireworks, 5-11 p.m., 525 7th St. NE. Food vendors, face painting, 50/50 ticket sales and other children's activities will open. At 7 p.m., The Scenic Route will perform hits from the ’70s through today. Fireworks at dusk.

Stow: Firecracker Run, 7:30-9:30 a.m., Holy Family Church, 3179 Kent Road, 4-Mile & 2-Mile Fun Run. Stow Strong 4th of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Stow City Hall, 3760 Darrow Road. It travels down Kent Road past Holy Family Church and ends at Park Drive.

Valley City: Parade, car show, music and fireworks. Parade steps off at 11 a.m. from state Route 303 to West River to School Street to Maple Street, ending at Mill Stream Park. 11:45 a.m. car show at Mill Stream Park. Concessions available benefiting BSA Troop 502. At 7 p.m., music by Soundcheck, a four-piece female-fronted classic rock band. Fireworks at dusk.

Wooster: Fireworks Festival, 5-10:30 p.m., corner of Burbank Road and Oldman Road. Food and family entertainment prior to the fireworks at 10 p.m. North of the Kinney Building on Burbank Road between Highland and Oldman Road at the soccer complex. Ohio Light Opera Community Pops Concert, Main Street Wooster, 377 W. Liberty St., 7-8 p.m. near the pavilion. Free concert featuring patriotic songs.

Rubber Mat Portage Lakes: The 36th annual fireworks will be shot from Mason's Point on Turkeyfoot Lake at 10 p.m. 91.3 FM The Summit will simulcast music to the event. The rain date is July 10.
